-          Warm Up

-          Position Specific Work – Small Groups

-          Perimeter:

·        Maravich Ball Handling Drills

·        Introduction to Stance Dribble – “Dribble War’ Drill

·        Introduction to Triple Threat

-          Post:

·        Fundamentals of Low Post Positioning

·        “Catch, Chin the Ball, Read the Defense”

·        Drop Step & Pound Dribble Post Move (No Defense)

 

20 minutes      Full Court Passing Drills (Split Groups – Full Court Sideways)

-          Introduction to 3 Man Fast Break Drill – “Outlet, Middle, Fill the Lane”

-          Introduction to 3-Man Weave

-          Points of Emphasis:

·        Proper Passing & Catching Techniques

·        Playing the Game in “Straight Lines”

·        How to Jump Stop & Play in Control

 

25 minutes      Introduction to Man to Man Defensive Principles – 4 on 4 “Shell Drill”

-          Defensive Focus – Stop the Ball as Early as Possible

-          Defensive Positioning:

·        “On Ball Defense” – Live Ball & Dead Ball Pressure

·        1 Pass Away – Deny Positioning – “On the Line, Up the Line”

·        2 or 3 Passes Away – Help side Positioning – Establishing a Triangle

 

20 Minutes     Introduction to “Passing Game” Offense – Half Court

-          Offensive Focus – Triple Threat Position, Proper Spacing, Movement

-          Perimeter Rules for Offense

·        Pass & Screen Away or Pass & Basket Cut

·        Screen for a Teammate on the Baseline.

 

-          Post Rules for Offense

·        Follow the Ball & Look for Defenders to Seal

·        If Guarded 1 on 1 in the Post Look to Score

-          Add – “Deny the Cutter”

 

20 Minutes     3 on 3 Half Court Scrimmage

-          Play 3 on 3 with an Open (Unguarded) Post

-          Emphasis – Execute Perimeter Rules for Passing Game Offense

-          Review Post & Perimeter Rules for Passing Game

·        Play 1 on 1 – Execute Triple Threat, Read the Defense, Use Live Ball Moves – 3 dribbles only to Score

·        “Fast Catch’ Drill

·        Practice Drop Step + Pound Dribble, “Turn & Face” Move – Add Blocking Pad

·        Introduction of “Step Through” Move

 

20 minutes      Man to Man Defensive Principles – 4 on 4 “Shell Drill”

·        Oiler Shooting Drills

·        Shooting Drills off of the Pass & the Dribble

-          Post:

·        Paul Mokeski Drill – “Mix It Up”

·        1 on 1 “Live”

 

20 minutes      Man to Man Defensive Principles – 4 on 4 Shell  - LIVE & COMPETITVE

-          Each team plays defense for 5 minutes.

-          The offensive team earns points as follows:

·        Each 2 point basket = 2 points

·        Each 3 point basket = 3 points

·        Each offensive rebound = 1 point

-          The defensive team earns points as follows:

·        Each defensive rebound  = 2 points

·        Each forced turnover  = 1 point

·        A charge is worth 4 points.

-          The team with the most points after a round of 4 on 4 wins, the other team does a short fitness drill.

-          Points of Emphasis – Offense – Applying principles of Passing Game Offense into a 4 on 4 situation – Team work, Protecting the Ball & Minimizing Turnovers, Helping Teammates to Get Open, Movement & Spacing

-          Defense – Applying principles of “Shell” Defense learned over the past 4 weeks. Applying principles of defensive positioning into a cohesive team effort.

 

30 minutes      5 on 5 Full Court Scrimmage MAIN COURT

-          Execute – All Skills Learned in Offensive Transition

·        After Securing Defensive Rebounding – “Outlet, Middle, Fill”

·        Running the Lanes Hard & Playing the Game in Straight Lines

-          Execute – Applying Concepts of Passing Game to a Full Court Game Situation
