“Building the Shot” – Fundamentals of Shooting the Basketball
 Curriculum:
- This Clinic will focus primarily on the fundamentals of shooting the basketball.
- We will cover all aspects of the correct shooting form using an easy to understand, step-by-step method.
- We will teach proper footwork and shooting form off of the pass and the dribble.
Skills Covered:
- Establishing a Shooting Target
- Shot Pocket as the starting point of the shot
- Hand Position on the ball – Shooting Fingers, Guide Hand, “Shooter’s C”
- Alignment of Body & Legs - maintaining a low Platform
- Establishing the proper Shot Line
- Uplift and Release of the Ball
- Proper Follow Through technique
- 7 Common Shooting problems & how to fix them
 Shooting off of the Catch, getting your legs into the shot- Training your eyes to focus on the target
- Shooting the basket loops
- “Heel, Toe, Swivel” technique when moving left or right
- Shooting off of the dribble – adding shot fakes and space dribbles
- 3 on 3 Scrimmages to practice shooting skills in game like situations

Clinic Dates & Times:
May 23, 24 & 25 2009 – Memorial Day Weekend (Sat, Sun, Mon)
 Session # 1 - 8 am - 10 am- Session # 2 – 10 am - Noon
There is a limit of 45 players per session. Sessions are not age specific – players can choose the session they want to attend. Within each session, players will be grouped appropriately according to age and skill level.
Note: If the player signs up for Session # 1 (8 am – 10 am), he/she will attend that session for all 3 days…each player is getting 6 total hours of instruction.
Important! - If your child is playing in a League such as KAC, NJB ( or any other League) and has a game scheduled that conflicts with their Performance Basketball Clinic session time...they are free to attend the alternate session for that day...please let Coach Mello know in advance...thank you! |
General Info:
• Open to boys & girls ages 7-18
• Please wear basketball shoes, t-shirts & gym shorts. No street clothes, hats, jewelry or sweat pants.
Shooting DVD:
Each player receives a free DVD of the shooting skills taught during the Shooting Clinic.
 Price & Registration:
• PRICE OF THE SHOOTING CLINIC IS $125 - Full payment needs to be submitted with registration form - DVD included in price of Clinic.
• Accepted methods of payment - credit card or check.
- Credit card payment can be made when completing on-line registration form.
